Austin Allsup Album in the works

I have spent the last few weeks working on a new Austin Allsup (untitled as of now) CD at Bart Rose's Fort Worth Sound in, you guessed it, Fort Worth!  This is an awesome room and Bart really knows his stuff.  I highly recommend this studio! Also in the studio is Ruben Salazar and Clay Willis, two of the finest players around. The CD should be a nice mix of Texas/Red Dirt country with a few rockers thrown in the mix.  I especially like "Rock and Roll Man" (maybe a single?!).  The record should be done and out to radio sometime in the Fall so be listening to the radio or better yet, come out to a show!

Bass Drum?

Here's a shot of my "bass drum" at The Rustic in Dallas the other day.  Sometimes you gotta improvise!  It actually sounded great through the giant PA system.

New Chuck Ligon CD in the works

Once again, Jeff is busy in the studio producing a new Chuck Ligon CD.  The as of yet untitled CD will be ready for a fall release. The CD will feature 9 new Chuck Ligon songs and one surprise cover song, sure to be a crowd pleaser!  In addition to producing the CD, Jeff also plays drums on 1 song.  The CD is being produced at various studios in the Dallas area, most notably at Tomcast Studio with Paul Williams engineering.  Chuck's previous release, Come and Take it (2013) did very well and made it to the Texas music Chart!  Check out Chuck's homepage for the latest release info.  www.chuckligon.com

Jeff to reunite with Sax Legend Johnny Reno!

Jeff is set to play a string of dates in October with legendary Fort Worth Sax man Johnny Reno.  Jeff has not played with Mr. Reno in many years and the shows should prove to be exciting.  The pair will be playing in Fort Worth at the Scat Lounge in Downtown every Thursday in October.  Come by and see the sparks fly!

Jeff Howe moving on

After almost 12 long and exciting years playing drums for Max Stalling, I am moving on to explore some other musical options, focus more on teaching drum lessons, and spend a weekend or two with my family.  Working for Max has been a highlight in my career and I'll miss him and the boys a ton.  A personal thanks to Max's fans for their loyalty and kindness they've shown me though the years.  I know Max and the band will continue to do great things in the future and I wish them all the luck in the world.

Troy Cartwright Song in Texas Top 50

Troy Cartwright's  single, I'm With You hit #50 on the Texas Music Chart. The song is his first song to be featured off of his debut  EP Bull Run.  The CD was produced by Jeff Howe and released last year to glowing reviews.  Troy has also put together an outstanding live show with a top notch band.  Check them out when they come to your town.

New Drums for 2014!

Check out my new set from Ludwig!  The set is a Legacy Classic  with the Blue/Olive oyster wrap.  The sizes are 14"X20" Bass Drum, 14"X14" Floor tom, 12"X8" tom and a 5"X14" matching wood snare drum.  The set also has the new Ludwig Atlas hardware which is amazing.  Very sturdy, versatile and attractive to boot!

They're Coming! The Deadbeat Saints are on the way!

Jeff's latest project is a new band called, The Deadbeat Saints.  The Saints will be a decidedly rockin',  Jam band that will be heavy on solos and improvisation.  The band hopes to be hitting the clubs by mid summer and will include former Queen for a Day, Lord Traci, 76 and Naked Truth guitarist Brian Harris.  The band will play a combination of mostly original songs and choice covers.  Keep your ears open for this one!
